MIAMI BEACH, FLA. — Now that the ANA Multicultural Marketing & Diversity Conference has concluded, the Event Services team at the Fontainebleau — along with the management at the neighboring Eden Rock Miami Beach resort — are now heading into high gear for not only the busy holiday travel season, but NATPE Miami.

The 2018 event is already well into the planning stages, and the Chairman/CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment and veteran journalist Soledad O’Brien have already been confirmed for a keynote presentation.

O’Brien presently serves as the host of Hearst Television’s syndicated political magazine program Matter of Fact, and she will be a headliner at the National Association of Television Program Executives’ biggest annual event — the buying and selling showcase for program suppliers to the world’s television and Over-the-Top networks.

She’ll be providing NATPE attendees a one-on-one interview with Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman/ CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, on Jan. 17, 2018. The focus of the conversation will be in keeping with NATPE’s overall theme for the conference: “A Changing Industry in a Changing World.”

The annual marketplace and conference opens on Tuesday, Jan. 16, following the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday, and concludes on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Joining the programming lineup for the first time this year will be the NATPE Streaming Summit, which will take a holistic look at the current OTT and streaming landscape and its outlook for the future.

Facebook Head of Global and Creative Strategy Ricky Van Veen will be lending his voice to the OTT conversation at a session breaking down what is in store for Facebook Watch, their new content platform. The programming throughout the Platforms & OTT track will mirror the mission laid out by the recently formed NATPE NXTGN Advisory Board to help the industry navigate emerging media.

Other highlights from the Conference include a planned spotlight conversation with Roma Khanna, the recently named CEO of Revolt TV, as well as multiple sessions covering the topics of diversity, inclusion and empowerment. Panels include one on how innovative creators are engaging the LGBTQ community across multiple platforms and another on the business of inclusivity.

The Station Group Forum will return and cover topics such as how ATSC 3.0 will change the business of broadcasting.

The nine tracks for this year’s conference include Brands & Advertisers, Music+Vision, Development, Deals & Data, Platforms & OTT, Scripted, Unscripted, Station Groups, Global and Latin America.

Meanwhile, the NATPE Opening Night Party sponsors Kanal D and Olympusat will feature a live performance by Latin music icon Elvis Crespo, who remains immensely popular in such nations as Germany and Austria after nearly two decades of recording.

Radio + Television Business Report Adam R Jacobson will be at NATPE 2018. To schedule an appointment during the conference, please send an e-mail to [email protected].
