The “hurry up, please” approach appears to be working: The FCC concluded its 15th round of bidding in its forward auction Wednesday afternoon with $16.4 billion raised.

That’s a significant jump from 24 hours earlier, at the close of Round 12.

It also signals that the forward portion of the auction has reached its first of two benchmarks, allowing the auction to close.

The FCC set as a total minimum bid price the value of exactly $15,896,290,987. All clearing targets were set above 84 MHz.
