Salem Radio Network’s The Hugh Hewitt Show has just added a live, daily update from the controversial “Proposition 8 trial” which opened Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Each day, attorney Jordan Lorence of the Alliance Defense Fund (which is serving as co-counsel for defendants in Perry v. Schwarzenegger, will exit the San Francisco courtroom to update Hewitt’s listeners on the lawsuit…filed by pro-Gay Marriage forces seeking to overturn the will of California voters by striking down a constitutional amendment that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. (Alliance Defense Fund attorneys are co-counsel in the lawsuit together with lead counsel Charles J. Cooper and ADF-allied attorney Andrew Pugno, who represents the official proponents and campaign committee of Proposition 8.)

SRN V.P. of News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup, noting the nationwide interest in this trial especially among conservatives, states: “In America, we should respect and uphold the right of a free people to make social policy choices through the democratic process.” Tradup adds, “If a handful of activists can void a constitutional amendment adopted by 7 million Californians, we have forfeited the very core of the American democratic system–especially in this case, where the people of California affirmed something that predates America itself. So Hugh Hewitt is devoting part of his nationally-syndicated program to updating listeners on the daily courtroom developments in Perry vs. Schwarzenegger.”

The show airs from 6PM-9PM (Eastern time) weekdays on the Salem Radio Network.
