Station merry-go-round in Arkansas

Two owners with interests in three radio license companies between them are swapping an AM-FM combo for a standalone FM and entering into a series of ancillary agreements in a deal largely taking place in unrated territory west of Little Rock and east of Fort Smith.

The combo is KLYR AM-FM Clarksville. Both stations are licensed to Hog Radio Inc., headed by Jay W. Bunyard. The stations are going to Jerry and Marilyn Dietz, but had to be filed as separate deals, because the AM will be going to the Dietz’s Ozark Communications Inc. and the FM to the Dietz’s Hawkeye Communications Inc.
In return, Ozark is sending KDYN-FM Ozark AR to Hog.

The three agreements will send $300K from Hog to Ozark/Hawkeye – there is a $150K consulting agreement, a $75K cooperation agreement and a $75K non-compete.

Bill Whitley of Media Services Group served as broker on the deal.

KDYN-FM is the westernmost of the three stations. A Class C3 on 96.7 MHz with 10 kW @ 486’, it has a primary contour which takes it to the edge of the Fort Smith market, where it gets nominal ratings.

KLYR-FM is a Class A on 92.7 MHz with 3 kW @ 486’. The parties will apply to move it to the KDYN transmitter location as a Class C3 with 25 kW, with Hog kicking in 15K toward legal and engineering costs.

KLYR-AM is a Class D on 1360 kHz with 500 W-D, 98 W-N, ND.
