Stocks on Tuesday chalked up tepid gains, with the S&P 500 index advancing for a sixth month, its longest such stretch since September 2009. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 21.05 points to 14,839.80, up 1.8% for April.

The TVBR Television Index was up 7.198, or 1.3%, to 565.450.
