Stocks fall; Dow weekly loss biggest in 6 weeks

The Dow dropped below 17,000 on Friday on disappointing earnings, leaving it with its biggest weekly decline in six weeks. Big declines consumer discretionary stocks, led by Amazon.com, pushed the S&P 500 away from the record close set on Thursday. The Dow lost 123.23 points, or 0.7%, to 16,960.57, weighed down by losses in Visa. The S&P closed 9.6 points, or 0.5%, lower at 1,978.34 and finished the week roughly where it started it. The Nasdaq shed 22.5 points, or 0.5%, to 4,449.56, but eked out a weekly gain of 0.4%.

The TVBR Television Index was down 6.522, or .71%, to 913.187.
