Stocks declined sharply on Tuesday, with the Nasdaq closing below 3,000 for the first time since early August, as weaker quarterly earnings weighed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 243.28 points, or 1.8%, to 13,102.61, its worst single-day point drop since June 21.

The TVBR Television Index was down 5.164, or 1.6%, to 318.900.
