Stockton CA FM station commands $10M price tag

0

An FM station situated in the upper reaches of the commercial FM band is going to a noncommercial licensee – but will still be in familiar formatic territory in a stock deal worth $10M.

The station is KLVS(FM, and it’s being sold by San Joaquin Broadcasting Company to frequent acquirer Educational Media Foundation, headed by Mike Novak. The transaction was handled by Greg Guy of Patrick Communications.

The station provides a Contemporary Christian format from its dial perch at 107.3 MHz. That happens to be the format of EMF’s K-LOVE Network.

RBR-TVBR observation: If we bought this station, we’d have to be thinking about a side deal for the call letters. If we were an Oldies station specializing in the music of The King himself, Mr. Elvis Presley, we’d find these calls to be particularly attractive.

RBR-TVBR note: If you read this article, chances are you have more than a casual interest in the buying and selling of media properties. Much of what goes into a deal goes into the contract, and knowing what kinds of things should go into the contract can help you make a better deal. RBR-TVBR has just the book for you: a guide to deal-craft that will pay for itself.
