Storied WCKC Changing Hands


SoldWCKC is changing hands again.

Northern Star Broadcasting is selling the Cadillac, Michigan FM in the northern part of the state.

Northern Star’s Del and Mary Reynolds bought WCKC has part of an eight station deal in 2011 from Wade Fetzer. The total price was $1.8 million, with $1.2 million in cash and $600,000 paid over time in a promissory note.

Fetzer was originally awarded the CP for WCKC from the FCC in 1984, when it was WITW.

Dom and Mary Theodore of Up North Radio are paying $180,000 cash at closing. They also own WCDY(FM), McBain, Michigan.

WCKC is a Class A FM with an ERP of 2,750 watts @ 482’ HAAT on 107.1 MHz.

Black Diamond has agreed to pay $1.95 million for the other eight Northern Star Broadcasting stations in the Traverse City-Petoskey Michigan market, nearly 50 miles north of Cadillac.

Jason James of Patrick Communications was the broker for the Up North and the Black Diamond deals.
