NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has attracted a Nielsen SVP highly involved with multicultural efforts to a newly created position focused on  corporate communications, government relations, and community relations.

Monica Gil, a respected Hispanic market veteran, will now serve as EVP/Corporate Affairs.

Gil’s new duties include management of what are considered as high-priority company-wide initiatives across all Telemundo Enterprises business units.

Based in Miami, Gil reports directly to Chairman Cesar Conde, who commented, “We are excited to have Monica join our team. She brings a wealth of experience across community, public affairs and strategic insights in the media industry.”

At Nielsen, Gil served as SVP/GM of Multicultural Growth and Strategy, responsible for driving growth, providing market insights and delivering comprehensive strategies to reach diverse consumer segments. Gil was also instrumental in establishing best practices to capture and accelerate multicultural growth opportunities for Nielsen’s numerous blue-chip clients. She joined the company in 2005 as VP/Communications and was subsequently promoted to SVP/Public Affairs and Government Relations.

Before joining Nielsen, Gil served as a senior member of Antonio Villaraigosa’s political campaign team and was part of his historic Los Angeles mayoral victory in 2005. In her career she was Director of Public Affairs and Community Outreach for Telemundo’s KVEA -52 in Los Angeles.
