Texas newspaper company expands into radio

SoldKBEY-FM Burnet TX provides Texas Best Country to an unrated portion of the state just to the northwest of Austin. It is going to go into the portfolio of a local print company called Victory Publishing, headed by Dan and Lee Alvey. The seller saw the station’s value appreciate significantly in a year and a half.


The seller is Two Way Communications, headed by Stacey and Tim Walker. The acquired KBEY during the summer of 2011 from Gary Moss’s M&M Broadcasters for $325K largely accounted for by seller paper in the form of a$310K promissory note.

The price Victory will pay if $440K cash. Thecontract calls for a $20K escrow deposit and a cash payment for the remainder, less an LMA credit of $1.2K per month. The contract calls for the LMA to kick off 1/16/13.

The station is a Class A on 103.9 MHz with 1.8 kW @ 608’.

Victory, based in nearby Marble Falls TX, owns no other broadcast stations, but it is a publisher of local newspapers, magazines, phone books, a web site and online television news service, and also offers printing/publishing services.
