'The Bachelorette' Fans remarkable, Ratings say Yes w/ Upscale viewers

The fans of Ali, ‘The Bachelorette’ are remarkable and ABC does have a hit franchise on their hands and like previous editions of the franchise, the 6th season of “The Bachelorette” is a big hit with Upscale viewers, ranking as TV’s No. 1 series this summer among Adults 18-49 in Homes with $100k+ annual income (3.9 rating).

Chris Harrison was right when he said the ending would be something that never happened before.  It WAS dramatic.  It WAS shocking.  Halleluyah!  After having last season’s result (Jake picking Vienna over Tenley) completely ruined by annoying bloggers and tabloids that find pleasure in ruining surprises, I was elated and shocked when Ali broke up with Chris before her last date.  This was such a bold and classy move for a number of reasons – for sure the BEST ending I have ever seen on this show for the following reasons:

Like previous editions of the franchise, the 6th season of “The Bachelorette” is a big hit with Upscale viewers, ranking as TV’s No. 1 series this summer among Adults 18-49 in Homes with $100k+ annual income (3.9 rating). On average in its sixth season, “The Bachelorette” was up over the previous year by 1.6 million viewers (9.8 million vs. 8.2 million) and by 14% in Adults 18-49 (3.3/9 vs. 2.9/8). In fact, “The Bachelorette” generated its most-watched season since 2004.

With the 6th-season finale of “The Bachelorette,” ABC finished No. 1 in the time period for the 10th consecutive week (on every telecast this season), outperforming its closest competitor (CBS) by 5.0 million viewers.
 
The fans love this show just as much and in many ways more so that Jake ‘The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love’ and the ratings prove the point. Fans can examine how Ali has beat the competition week over week with millions of loyal viewers.

Year to Year on Average, “The Bachelorette” is Up by 1.6 Million Viewers and By 14% in Adults 18-49, Generating its Most-Watched Season Since 2004. 
“The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose” Dominates at 10pm, Beating CBS and NBC Combined by 5% in Total Viewers and by 36% in Adults 18-49.

Last Monday Night, 8/2/10, (8:00-11:00 p.m.) ABC was the most-watched network overall for the 7th consecutive week and ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for the 9th Monday in a row.  The Network towered over its nearest broadcast competition (CBS) by 5.1 million viewers (11.6 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 111% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/11 vs. 1.8/5).

ABC drew its largest Monday summer audience (Memorial Day – Labor Day) and highest non-sports Adults 18-49 performance in over 10 years – since 6/26/00. “The Bachelorette” (8:00-10:02 p.m.) With the 6th-season finale of “The Bachelorette,” ABC finished No. 1 in the time period for the 10th consecutive week (on every telecast this season), outperforming its closest competitor (CBS) by 5.0 million viewers (11.7 million vs. 6.7 million) and by 90% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/11 vs. 2.0/6). The veteran ABC unscripted series built steadily throughout its telecast, drawing an average of 13.2 million viewers and a 4.4/12 among Adults 18-49 during its final half-hour from 9:30-10:00 p.m., with Bachelorette Ali giving the final rose to Roberto.

“The Bachelorette” saw increases over its year-ago season finale (7/27/09) of 1.7 million viewers (11.7 million vs. 10.0 million) and 9% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/11 vs. 3.5/10), pulling its strongest finale numbers overall since 2004 when it concluded in February (on 2/25/04).  On average, “The Bachelorette” stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV show of Summer 2010 in Adults 18-49 and the top summer series overall across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

WEEK No. 45: ABC was the most-watched network overall for the 6th week in a row and ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 for the 8th straight Monday.  In fact ABC is registering its longest Adult 18-49 winning streak on the night in more than 10 years – since November 1999-January 2000.    The Network outperformed its nearest broadcast competition (CBS) by 1.4 million viewers (7.9 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 32% in Adults 18-49 (2.5/8 vs. 1.9/6).
“The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All” (8:00-10:02 p.m.)

With ABC’s “The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All,” the Network ranked a strong No. 1 in the time period for the 9th consecutive week, outperforming its closest time period competition (CBS) by 2.3 million viewers (8.9 million vs. 6.6 million) and by 45% (2.9/9 vs. 2.0/6). The veteran ABC unscripted series led all 4 of its half-hours in viewers and young adults.

“The Bachelorette” stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Adults 18-49 for the 7th week running, and for the 9th time in 9 weeks stood as the evening’s dominant No. 1 television program across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). “The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All” saw increases over its year-ago performance (7/20/09) by nearly 1.0 million viewers (8.9 million vs. 8.0 million) and by 4% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/9 vs. 2.8/9).

On average, “The Bachelorette” is up over its performance at the same point last year by 1.3 million viewers (9.5 million vs. 8.2 million) and by 10% in Adults 18-49 (3.2/9 vs. 2.9/8).

“20/20: The Stories Behind the Rose” (10:02-11:00 p.m.)ABC News’ “20/20: The Stories Behind the Rose” ranked No. 1 in the 10 o’clock hour against its CBS and

NBC competition among Adults 18-49 (1.8/5) and Adults 25-54 (2.3/6).

Week 44: Overall: Growing year-to-year for the 10th week running, ABC ranked #2 for the week of 7/19/10 among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.  In fact ABC has finished 1st or 2nd in the key young Adult sales demo on nearly every week this summer (6 of 8 weeks).  For the 3rd straight week, ABC was the #1 net with Women 18-49.  ABC claimed 3 of the Top 7 programs for the week in Adults 18-49, including the #1 TV show with The Bachelorette:  The Bachelorette – #1. Monday:  Growing from the previous Monday for the 2nd week in a row, ABC stood as the most-watched network overall for the 5th week in a row and ranked #1 in Adults 18-49 for the 7th straight Monday, posting a summer-high performance in both Nielson measures.  The Network beat its nearest primetime competition (CBS) by 2.6 million viewers and by 61% in Adults 18-49. 

Building its overall Monday audience year to year for the 8th time in 8 weeks, ABC improved on the same night last year in viewers and young adults (7.4 million and 2.6/8 on 7/20/09).  ABC’s The Bachelorette ranked a strong #1 in its time period for the 8th consecutive week, beating its closest time period competition (CBS) by 3.9 million viewers and by 70%. The veteran ABC unscripted series won all 4 of its half-hours in viewers and young adults.  The Bachelorette registered as Monday’s #1 TV show in Adults 18-49 for the 6th week in a row, and for the 8th week running stood the evening’s dominant #1 television program across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).  The Bachelorette achieved season-highs in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. 

In fact excluding season finales, the series drew its biggest audience since February 2004 (since 2/18/04 during Season 2) and its highest Adult 18-49 rating since February 2005 (since 2/21/05 during Season 3).  On average, The Bachelorette is up over its performance at the same point last year by 1.6 million viewers and by 14% in Adults 18-49.

Week 43: ABC stood as the most-watched network overall for the 4th straight week and ranked #1 in Adults 18-49 for the 6th Monday in a row.  The Network topped its nearest broadcast competition (CBS) by 27% in Total Viewers and by 44% in Adults 18-49.  Building its overall Monday audience year to year for the 7th week running, ABC was up from the same night last year in viewers and young adults (6.9 million and 2.4/7 on 7/13/09).  ABC’s The Bachelorette ranked a strong #1 in its time period for the 6th week running, beating its closest network competition (CBS) in the time period by 3.3 million viewers and by 55% in Adults 18-49.  The veteran ABC unscripted series won all 4 of its half-hours in viewers and young adults.  The Bachelorette registered as Monday’s #1 TV show in Adults 18-49 for the 5th week in a row, and for the 7th consecutive week stood the evening’s dominant #1 television program across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).  On average, The Bachelorette is up over its performance at the same point last year by 1.5 million viewers and by 11% in Adults 18-49.

Week 42: (July 4th week) “The Bachelorette” (8:00-10:02 p.m.) ABC’s “The Bachelorette” ranked a strong No. 1 in its time period for the 6th week running, beating its closest time period competition (CBS) by 2.3 million viewers (9.1 million vs. 6.8 million) and by 40% in Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 2.0/6).  The veteran ABC unscripted series won all 4 of its half-hours in viewers and young adults.   During its final half-hour (9:30-10:00 p.m.), featuring Chris Harrison’s interview with Jake and Vienna, “The Bachelorette” drew an average audience of 10.1 million viewers and 3.1/9 in Adults 18-49.

“The Bachelorette” registered as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Adults 18-49 for the 4th week in a row, and for the 6th week running stood as the evening’s dominant No. 1 television program across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) On average, “The Bachelorette” is up over its performance at the same point last year by 1.2 million (9.0 million vs. 7.8 million) viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49 (3.0/9 vs. 2.8/8).
