- From 8-10 p.m. ET, “The Voice” (4.1 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 10.7 million viewers overall) is the #1 non-sports telecast of the night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, teens and kids on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW. “The Voice” finished within 0.4 of a point of last week’s 18-49 rating against last night’s exceptional competition of CBS’s NCAA Basketball Championship, and is within 0.3 of a point of last week’s 4.4 in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings. Head to head, “The Voice” outscored ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” by a 46 percent margin in 18-49 rating (4.1 vs. 2.8), the biggest margin for ”The Voice” over “Dancing” in their three weeks of competition to date. From its first half-hour to its fourth, this week’s “The Voice” grew by 14 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.2 from a 3.7).
- Versus NBC’s averages in the time period this season prior to “The Voice,” last night’s telecast is up 128 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 4.1 vs. a 1.8) and up 91 percent in total viewers (10.674 million vs. 5.587 million).
- “The Voice” has now generated NBC’s nine highest non-Olympic 18-49 ratings in this slot in four years (since February 18, 2008).
- At 10 p.m. ET, “Smash” (2.2/5 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) is currently delivering a 5 percent increase over its rating of the prior week, despite last night’s exceptional competition from CBS’s NCAA Basketball Championship (pending updates). “Smash” is currently tied for #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and #2 outright in women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34. Note that “Smash” grows by an average 42 percent above these next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 ratings when Nielsen adds the extra time-shifted viewing included in “live plus seven day” results.
- “Smash” has now delivered NBC’s nine highest 18-49 ratings in this time period since January 31, 2011. Last night’s “Smash” beat NBC’s time-period average this season prior to “Smash” by 120 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 2.2 vs. a 1.0) and by 58 percent in total viewers (6.087 million vs. 3.864 million).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:
- In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 3.0/7; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 1.8/6 with an encore delayed by basketball; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 3.9/9; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.7/5.
- In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/4; “Late Show,” 0.6/4 with an encore delayed by basketball; “Nightline,” 1.1/5; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.6/3.
- At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.4/5 in metered-market households) trailed CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.5/6 delayed by basketball). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.5/3 in 18-49) tied “Late Late Show” (0.5/3 delayed by basketball).
- At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
