The singer/songwriter of Ghanaian descent based in Nashville, has chosen Timeless Cool as the arena for her radio hosting debut. She joins current Timeless Cool singer/songwriter hosts Bobby Caldwell, Steve March-Torme’ and Janet Planet in bringing a unique perspective to the music format.

As a solo artist and as part of the singing duo Sam & Ruby, Ruby has enjoyed continual song writing and singing success. Ruby’s single “Sugah” reached the top 5 Billboard charts in the U.K. with many of her songs recorded in Europe and America. In 2007, Amanfu had a song nominated for a Grammy (Heaven’s My Home, as performed by the Canadian band, The Duhks), which later went on to be featured in the 2008 movie, “The Secret Life of Bees”, with Sam & Ruby’s own version.

Sam and Ruby’s first full length release, The Here and Now, was named as the No. 1 album of 2009 by the Associated Press on its Top 10 Albums of the Year list. This year in addition to many tour dates, the pair performed at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

An aspiring chef and organic gardener who describes herself as someone who “doesn’t fit inside the box”; Ruby promises an engaging and heartfelt musical journey to her new Timeless Cool listening audience. Emulating the sincerity she exudes in her live musical performances, she believes in relating to her listeners.

A quote she gave in a recent Fringe Magazine article (May/June 2010) sums up her music and style: “We’re called Soul Music because it connects to your soul. You may call it Blues because there are those moments of that emotion. We call if Folk because we’re storytellers, like the folk tradition way back when – they were storytellers- so we’re just going to fall back to the true definition of that music.”

Timeless Cool is a new and unique music mix of classic and contemporary artists and songs that are carefully selected to produce a blend not shared with existing formats in any market.
