Townsquare spins six in Idaho

Rich Broadcasting is a new entrant into the roster of radio station owners, but its management has been around the business, in particular CEO Richard Mecham, whose 30 years in the biz most recently included Bonneville’s flagship Salt Lake City assets. Now he’ll have a six station group in Idaho Falls-Pocatello.

The stations are coming from Townsquare Media, which said it is hanging on to four others in Twin Falls ID.

“This acquisition represents a strong commitment to localism in broadcasting and a solid foundation for our company’s future growth,” commented Mecham. “Our management team’s previous experience managing stations in these markets for Bonneville International gives us an appreciation for the communities and we look forward to working with the existing personnel as we build on their success.”

The stations include KID-FM, KLLP-FM, KPKY-FM, KEGE-FM, KID-AM and KWIK-AM. Closing is expected during the first half of the year. Other terms were not disclosed.
