Trio of governors urge FCC to approve Comcast/NBCU merger

Citing “the significant benefits associated with the creation of this new joint venture,” the governors of three large states have weighed in with the FCC in support of the proposed merger between Comcast and NBC Universal.

The threesome includes Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger of California and Democrats David Paterson of New York and Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania.

They suggested that the potential harms are minimal compared to the potential benefits.

It is doubtless no coincidence that the companies in question have a significant presence in the states represented by the three governors. Comcast is headquartered in Philadelphia, and NBCU has a big presence in both New York City and Los Angeles.
