Sharing in Tampa Bay
You can add Tampa-St. Pete to the markets where local TV news operations are sharing resources. The pooling begun this week involves three stations.
Fox O&O WTVT-TV, Scripps’ WFTS-TV (ABC) and Gannett’s WTSP-TV (CBS) have joined forces to share video from “general market news events.” An independent managing editor will assign the pool stories to be covered each day. “All employees involved in the shared operation will remain employees of their respective news organizations,” the three stations said in their announcement.
Not involved in the sharing is Media General’s WFLA-TV (NBC). It already has a news sharing arrangement of sorts, via the multi-platform news operation it runs with the co-owned Tampa Tribune.
