Fire David Letterman Rally today

Activists are keeping pressure on CBS and David Letterman following his recent comments about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her daughter. A “Fire David Letterman Rally” is planned for today (6/16) outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan, where his show is taped.

The organization also has a website: firedavidletterman.com.

Anna Barone, who worked for Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign, and later for Democrats for McCain, called on CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves to fire Letterman for his “sexist insults” which aired on CBS’ “The Late Show.”

“David Letterman’s disgraceful comments were a violation of standards of common decency. They were as bad as the comments Don Imus made that caused CBS to fire him in 2007. CBS needs to apply the same standards to David Letterman they applied to Don Imus,” said Barone.

For his part, Letterman issued an apology on Monday. "I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It's not your fault that it was misunderstood, it's my fault. So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future," Letterman said.

David Letterman should lose his job - plain and simple. There is absolutely nothing funny or comedic about what he had to say about Sarah Palin or her daughter - regardless of the age of the daughter or which one that he was talking about. Dave needs to take a lesson from those who are really funny - Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton, Bob Hope and I could go on - they would never even think of resorting to this type of rhetoric. We are boycuotting all sponsors of this program and asking these sponsors to drop their sponsorship of such trash and poor showmanship.

Really G White, really? Do you care to mention anyone alive this century? Maybe you should sit home, watch black & white TV, wait for the Milkman, and gripe about the **** kids and their rock & roll music.

Who would have thunked that Sarah Palin would keep hogging the spotlight for so long? Well, to begin with, that joke Letterman made about her daughter was tasteless and not very funny - more funny than Leno but that‘s really not gold standard.

Now Sarah is threatening to shoot him in the face. Let‘s be clear. The root cause of Letterman being able to make this joke is a) she has trotted out her daughters for her election campaign, and b) she did not manage to teach her daughters to keep their legs together. So, maybe a little self criticism would be in order.

Second, it should be clear to every moron that Letterman was referring to Bristol, the knocked-up older one. Still not very tasteful. In effect, however, Palin is suggesting that she believes that Alex Rodriguez would rape a 14-year old.

How about this: Letterman has apologized already. Now Palin should apologize to Alex Rodrigues for suggesting that he is a pedophile. Then George Steinbrenner apologizes for having bought A-Rod in the first place. Last, NBC apologizes for Conan.

Afterwards, everybody is banned from watching baseball for a year.

Where was Palin's sense of moral outrage when sat sat in with two radio shock jocks who were ripping a female politician apart while Palin giggled away? Never called them on it. Never even gave one of those , " aw guys..c'cmon" responses. Nope... she thought attacking a cancer survivor was just a darned hoot. Hear it for yourself:

Palin should be angry, very angry!
Letterman should have NEVER even used her daughter to get at Palin. It doesn't matter what he said. The fact that said anything shows just how shallow he is.

Our family will not watch the David Letterman show anymore because he is so politically one sided against the Republicans. He should give equal time with his jokes to both parties. The bad joke about the 14 year old daughter of Sarah Palin is another hit against the Republicans.

Really G White, really? Do you care to mention anyone alive this century?

Why should he? Current day comedians don't have near the talent of the afore-mentioned. Exception, Bill Cosby. While today's comedians depend on vulgarity for laughter, it shows how talentless they really are.
