Little strike impact on local stations for a while

In his quarterly conference call, Barrington Broadcasting Group CEO Jim Yager told Wall Street analysts he doesn't see any near-term impact on his local stations from the WGA strike.

"I don't see the strike impacting us in one way or the other for a number of months. You've got to remember that we primarily drive this company on what we do with local news. The strike has impacted some syndicated product. The networks are pretty well stocked to at least get through the February Sweep with new and fresh product," Yager said. "Now if it goes on seven to eight months, which I don't think it will, that could have a tangible impact on us. But for the foreseeable future we don't see any impact from the strike."
