Broadcast groups may focus on local to ride out strike

In his quarterly conference call, Gray Television President Bob Prather said his information about the writers strike was the same as what the analysts had been reading from news reports. "The shows they have in the can they're going to run and then they'll start showing reruns -- obviously that's not going to be great for TV in general. Hopefully, they will get this thing settled. We'll keep putting on our local news live and keep doing the right things locally and just ride that out. I don't see it having a big effect on individual stations," Prather said. Gray operates 36 big four affiliates in 30 markets.
