First Lady Michelle Obama, that is. Nickelodeon President Cyma Zarghami announced that the cable network will join the First Lady in her nationwide Let's Move (www.LetsMove.gov) campaign to solve the problem of childhood obesity in this generation.

Nickelodeon will offer its resources and research to the campaign, including kid and family-targeted PSAs featuring the Mrs. Obama, and special programming events on its channels and websites.

"Nickelodeon is honored to work together with the First Lady and to be part of the Let's Move campaign to stop the rise of childhood obesity," Zarghami said. "This is an issue we have been addressing for many years and we are pleased to offer our resources and research expertise about kids and families," she added.

Nickelodeon, owned by Viacom, noted that for almost seven years it has empowered kids with resources, tools and the information they need to live healthier lifestyles, and has committed millions of dollars and air time to health and wellness messaging through its "Let's Just Play" pro-social campaign and grants program. Nickelodeon's involvement in Let's Move will augment the campaign's goal to increase healthy schools and kids' physical activity, improve the accessibility and affordability of healthy foods, and empower consumers to make healthier choices in their lives, the network said.

Wouldn't our tax dollars and Nickelodean's efforts be better served if the focus of their intent be on actual parenting skills?

Let's face it, yester-year's parents didn't put up with lazy, no-chore doing misfits, who constantly play video games or sit in front of TV with pounds of junk food.

The kids don't buy the food, it's the parents. Just like the school's can't make the kids get their act together, so must the parents get their fat-*** kids off the media platform and do some chores, join the YMCA, Boys Club, Little League or other activities. These organizations are better baby sitters than the government or TV network, because they not only build physical fitness, but they build leadership and independence skills.

Also, if the government was serious about childhood obesity, why is it then the new "trans-fat" laws don't apply to school lunch programs?

Talk about hypocrisy.
