Google pushing into TV worldwide next year
We’re still waiting for the fall 2010 roll-out of Google TV in the US, but the company is already committing to making it available worldwide in 2011. CEO Eric Schmidt made the pitch for the new video service (to be) on Tuesday (9/7) at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.
Schmidt is promising that the content on Google TV will be so compelling that “it’s going to ruin your evening.”
Sony, which is making the first Google TV devices, has not yet revealed pricing. It is expected, however, to be more expensive than the second-generation Apple TV announced last week. It will retail for $99.
While Apple TV is focused on providing movies and TV shows from major studios and networks, Google TV is supposed to make content available from more sources.
