One part of the carriage contract entered into between media giants Time Warner Cable and Walt Disney Company is the entry of ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU into an internet-access package in a TV Everywhere package. TW said the package will be available soon.

According to a Dow Jones report, the arrangement ends Disney’s holdout regarding an internet presence for its ESPN channels. Disney says it was never against the concept – it was just waiting for the price to be right.
The TV Everywhere concept involves the ability of cable subscribers to get access to cable programming on the internet wherever they happen to be.

According to Dow, Disney makes some of its other cable offerings available on other platforms, but this marks the first thaw on the policy for the ESPN suite.

TW has tested the TV Everywhere model in selected markets, but the tests have been completed and the service has not yet been offered to subscribers.
