Reporter arrested outside school
Jeffrey Weinsier, an investigative reporter for WPLG-TV (Ch. 10, ABC) Miami, was arrested and charged with trespassing and carrying a gun on school property. Weinsier has a concealed weapons permit, which he obtained because of threats he received about another story. The permit, however, would not allow him to carry a loaded gun onto the grounds of a public school. After being released on bond, Weinsier told reporters that he never set foot on the school grounds and that video shot by a number of stations at the scene would prove that. WPLG management says on the station website that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest. Weinsier and numerous other reporters had been outside Miami Central High to report on a math teacher who was arrested in a failed "suicide-by-cop" attempt.
