Double bragging rights for NBC

NBC notes with pride that it won 19 Emmys, more than any other broadcast network, but it also proudly notes that fewer people were watching those Emmy presentations on Fox than were watching NBC's "Sunday Night Football."

The New England Patriots 38-14 blowout victory over the San Diego Chargers on NBC delivered an overnight Nielsen rating of 11.7/18 to score a victory over the Primetime Emmy Awards on Fox, and was the highest rated broadcast of the night on any network. NBC noted that the Emmy's overnight rating of 10.5/16 was down 20% from last year's overnight rating of 13.1/20, which was on NBC in August and did not compete head-to-head against football. As you'd expect, the top metered markets for the game were Boston (28.5/42), San Diego (27.9/44) and Providence (25.6/36). Have an opinion on this article? Post your comment below.
