Journal Broadcast Group is adding a second full-power TV station to its already sizeable cluster of one TV and four radio stations in Tucson. In a deal brokered by Patrick Communications, Journal will acquire KWBA-TV (Ch. 58, CW) from Cascade Broadcasting Group. The price was not immediately disclosed. Journal’s existing TV in the market is KGUN-TV (Ch. 9, ABC).

“The acquisition of KWBA is directly on strategy for Journal as we seek to build out cross-platform businesses in growth markets such as Tucson. With two television stations and four radio stations in this market, we can increase our hyper-local presence in Tucson – particularly our local news focus – and even better serve our viewers in the Tucson area,” said Doug Kiel, CEO of Journal Broadcast Group.
