Nexstar on Mission to play wild KARD

Mission Broadcasting is buying NBC 10 KTVE-TV in the far-flung, state-straddling Monroe LA-El Dorado AR Nielsen DMA. Nexstar Broadcasting Group is already in the market with its Fox 14 KARD-TV. When Mission closes on its acquisition, it will enter into a local service agreement with Nexstar.

Actually, the LSA will mark a continuation of a relationship already in existence. Mission is acquiring KTVE from Paul Brisette's Piedmont Broadcasting for 7.7M. Nexstar's Perry Sook notes that out of 29 markets, this will be its 18th with more than one station. He's expecting instant results from the new operating agreement with Mission, coming at least in part from cable TV. "Under our LSA," said Sook, "KTVE-TV will realize additional transmission consent revenues to further improve broadcast cash flow."
