WNBC’s Simmons went numb

Sue Simmons thought she was dealing with tape, not live air, when she pulled the trigger on her f-bomb the other day during a promo. When she realized her error, she said she “went numb.” But most viewers saw it as no big deal. An unscientific poll conducted at the website of the New York Daily News revealed that 70% of respondents thought no disciplinary action of any kind – not a firing, not even a suspension – is warranted.

RBR/TVBR observation: If any further evidence is needed to simply let this incident melt into history than its obvious fleeting and unintentional nature, we would add in the fact that the gaffe occurred during safe harbor, after 10PM. And even if a few thousand children were still up when it happened, we suspect they’ll live.
