Good news for CBA from Radio Shack

Ubiquitous consumer electronics outlet Radio Shack, with 4.5K O&O stores and another 1K+ dealer locations scattered throughout the US, has just introduced a new product known as Digital Stream DTX9950, and it’s great news for the Community Broadcasters Association. That’s because the product referenced is a digital-to-analog converter box with an analog pass-through, which will enable owners of analog television sets to continue to receive analog broadcast signals. Chiefly affected will be homes in areas with some digital full power television stations, supplemented by low power and translator stations which are still broadcasting in analog format. The company said most consumers won’t need the NTIA-approved box, but was glad to be able to offer it where it is needed.
