Close encounter in Temple
Terry London’s second attempt to break into the Waco-Temple-Bryan DMA is officially successful. Broker Brian Cobb of CobbCorp says the acquisition of the local NBC affiliate and a sister LPTV is a done deal.
London Broading Company is picking up KCEN-TV Temple TX and its sidekick KMAY-LP Bryan TX from CobbCorp’s client, Channel 6 Inc., headed by Anyse Sue Mayborn.
All but $3M of the $26M sticker price should have changed hands at this point, according to contract terms filed with the FCC. The remaining $3M will be paied pursuant to promissory note.
An earlier deal, filed 7/2/08, would have sent KXXV-TV Waco-Temple-Bryan, KSWO-TV Lawton OK-Wichita Falls TX, KFDA-TV Amarillo TX and KWES-TV/KWAB-TV Midland-Odessa TX from Drewry Communications for $115M. London has since filed to acquire what will be his second full power station in Beaumont-Port Arthur TX.
