Millard S. Younts, Managing Member of EnVest Media, has been ordered by the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia to take over WDRL-DT Channel 24 Danville VA, serving the Roanoke-Lynchburg DMA. Younts will also try to find a buyer for the property.
It was licensed to MNE Broadcasting, LLC, headed by Melvin N. Eleazer. The FCC has already approved transfer of the license to Younts.
In a statement, EnVest noted, “WDRL-DTV has been signed off-the-air until new programming and new ownership is arranged. The station had primarily viewed on the Comcast, Cox cable systems and, satellite systems in the Roanoke-Lynchburg television market and, other locations in central Virginia.”
Two prior deals for the station have fallen through. A 2007 deal with the late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University with a $6M sticker price fell through, as did a subsequent 2008 deal with Living Faith, headed by Michael David Smith, which would have cost $5.25M.
