Close encounter in Clarksburg
The argument that consolidated television is better than no television has prevailed in the small Clarksburg-Weston WV DMA, where Wither Broadcasting has closed on its acquisition of Fox/CW WVFX-TV, according to brokerage firm Kalil & Company. The price was $5M. It will double up with Withers’ CBS WDTV-TV. The market is not even remotely close to the requisite population to support a television duopoly under normal conditions, but a failed station waiver was granted in this case. The seller was Davis Television.
