Orlando Class A act revisited
We have to admit we were wondering about the pricing of WZXZ-CA, an Orlando Class A television station that is being sold buy Rich Ehrman’s L4 Media Group to CaribVision, a group with full power television stations in Puerto Rico and LPTV outposts in Miami and near New York City. CaribeVision’s Carlos Barba is getting the station for $1.8M. That might sound high for a low power facility, but if FCC Chairman Kevin Martin is able to push through a provision granting cable must-carry status to Class As, then its value may head northward. According to brokers at Kalil & Co., who represented Ehrman, the deal was in the works before Martin made his intentions public, and Ehrman decided to do ahead with the deal that was already in motion.
