Nielsen re-ranks the nation
Nielsen Media Research is out with DMA re-rankings based on population estimates for January 1, 2007. The biggest change, as you would expect, is for hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, which dropped 11 slots to #54. Many of those former residents are now in the Baton Rouge market, which moved up three spots to #93. The biggest move up was by fast-growing Las Vegas, up five positions to #43. In the top 10 markets, San Francisco and Dallas-Ft. Worth each moved up one slot, while Boston fell two to #7. All in all, Nielsen says the number of US TV households has increased 1.1% over the past year to 111.4 million. Here is the complete list, with rankings for the new and past season.
