Former cable exec indicted

The SEC has filed civil charges of insider trading against a former investor relations manager at Cox Communications. Frank R.V. Loomans is accused of making at least 285,505 in illegal profits from trading stock options on Cox Communications and Concurrent Computer Corp., which was involved in business ventures with Cox, based on inside information. The trades allegedly occurred in 2000 and 2001.

A salute to Howard University

The "Spirit of Broadcasting" award will be presented to Howard University during the All-Industry Opening Keynote at NAB2005 in Las Vegas. University President H. Patrick Swygert will be on hand to accept the honor, along with alumna Debbie Allen. "Howard is being honored for its long history of educating and fostering the creative talents and leadership skills of people of color for the many professional facets of the entertainment, broadcast and media industries," NAB said.
