Panels set for FCC Monterey localism confab
The FCC has announced the identities of its panelists for tonight's localism meeting in Monterey. The event will be held at the Monterey Conference Center on Portola Plaza and will run from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM local time.
The first group has the spotlight from 6:30-7:15. It includes Blanca Zarazua, Chair, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Monterey County; Eduardo Dominguez, VP/GM, KSTS-TV (Telemundo), San Jose, California; Patti Miller, Director, Children & the Media Program, Children Now, Oakland, California; Joseph W. Heston, President/GM, KSBW-TV (Hearst-Argyle Television), Salinas, California; Martin Kaplan, Associate Dean, Annenberg School for Communication, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California; Sean McLaughlin, President and CEO, Akaku: Maui Community Television, Kahului, Hawaii; and Chuck Tweedle, Senior Regional VP, Bonneville International's San Francisco and St. Louis Divisions and GM, KOIT-AM/FM, San Francisco, California.
Panel #2 takes over from 7:15-8:00. Its members are John P. Connolly, National President, American Federation of Radio and Television Artists, Los Angeles, California; Kathy Baker, EVP, Buckley Radio; General Manager, KWAV-FM and KIDD-AM, Monterey, California; Davey D, Disc Jockey, KPFA-FM, Berkeley, California; Delia Saldivar, Regional Manager, KHDC-FM, Radio Bilingue, Inc., Salinas, California; Harry B. Robins, Jr., Emergency Services Manager, Monterey County; Warren L. Trumbly, President, Community Broadcasters Association, Zephyr Cove, Nevada and VP, Broadland Properties, KAXT-CA, San Jose, California.
The assembled FCC Commissioners - - Republican Kathleen Abernathy and Democrats Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein - - will be able to question each group. The open mic officially opens at 8:15 and runs until 10:00, when closing remarks will be made.
