MADD seeks media entries
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is seeking entries for its annual awards to media organizations for "exemplary coverage of drunk driving and underage drinking issues." Here are the categories:
* Television - National Network, Cable and News Service
* Television - Local Broadcast
* Radio Broadcasting
* Newspaper
* Magazine
* Spanish Language Media
* Community Awareness
Entries for the 2005 MADD Media Awards must be postmarked by March 31, 2005. Get the entry form at the madd.org website.
Lyne landing at Martha's place?
In a surprise move, former ABC Entertainment President Susan Lyne has been named CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Lyne is replacing Sharon Patrick, who moved up to CEO when Martha Stewart was indicted in June 2003. For personal and professional reasons I have decided to leave MSO and pursue other dreams, turning over the leadership of the company to others," Patrick said in a statement. Stewart is currently serving time in federal prison. As for here new job, Lyne said, "We will continue to create new 'how to' content and deliver what our loyal audiences expect from us. We believe we can be the place to go for information about the home across all media platforms."
WRNN chooses VCI for sales and traffic software
Video Communications, Incorporated (VCI), supplier of integrated media solutions to the broadcast and cable industry, announced that WRNN-TV Kingston, NY/NYC selected its flagship product, STARS II+, as their key business operations system. The decision to migrate from their current software opened the competitive arena for a new vendor. Jim Miles, Director of Operations, commented, "VCI is the best choice for WRNN. STARS II+ offers an industry-standard interface that is easy to learn and use. The system is compatible with our automation software and the transition from Columbine to VCI will be fairly easy."
VCI's training department allows clients to continue to learn by taking online refresher courses with WebEx technology. "We understand the stress involved when changing to a different software system. With VCI's superior training and support, the transition to a new system is straightforward and efficient, " said Lowell Putnam, VCI's President/CEO.
The launch date is scheduled for this month.
