Things began to pick up in the second half of August, and even though total value slid a bit from the week before, deal volume was up a good bit. Each week had a TV deal - - last week's was good for 48M compared to this week's 13M total, accounting for the difference. Radio, on the other hand, was way up, going from just over 6M last week to almost 33M this time around, which is more like it.

Clear Channel takes LMA-mate down the aisle
When Clear Channel bought out Ackerley a while back, it got radio in Seattle and TV stations all over the place. It also got to take over an LMA with Smith in Elmira-Corning upstate in New York. Now, for $13M, its filed to buy the station, and earning the title TV Deal of the Week, in the face of less-than-stiff, in fact nonexistent competition.

Radio One takes Indian Trail to NC duop
Susquehanna's small-market Albemarle NC FM, WABZ, has a CP to move to Indian Trail NC, just outside the robust Charlotte market. There it'll join WQNC-FM in a duopoly owned by Radio One, who is buying the station for $11.5M. Susquehanna will keep the regulatory paperwork moving while Radio One handles construction chores and expenses in this, the Radio Deal of the Week.
