TiVo tops 2M subscribers
Digital video recorder (DVR) pioneer TiVo reports that it signed its two millionth subscriber over the Labor Day Weekend. TiVo maintains that its growth prospects are good, despite increased competition in the DVR marketplace, and has projected that it will hit the three million mark by January. The company attributed its recent growth sport to the August introduction of a new TiVo DVR with a price of 99 dollars after rebate, a new advertising campaign, new distribution deals with major retailers and demand for its DirecTV DVR with TiVo.
NAB checks in with CheckHD.com
The NAB is giving its backing to a new consumer website promoting high-definition TV - - and its urging member TV stations to do the same. The site - - www.CheckHD.com - - was created by Decisionmark to answer peoples question about HD TV and the availability of HD programming in their area. The site is due to launch October 4th. NAB will provide links to CheckHD.com on its website and is urging member stations to do the same.
