TV’s Future May Depend on ATSC 3.0 Transition

With new generations of viewers increasingly moving to personal devices for news and video entertainment, many broadcasters see an urgent need for a broadcast standard capable of reaching those devices. To hit that target, and other new media opportunities, One Media, a joint venture of Sinclair Broadcasting Group and Coherent Logix, is advocating an ATSC 3.0 standard. Last week in part one of this series, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice attorney Gregg Skall wrote the goal is to have an ATSC 3.0 standard adopted in time for the repack following the incentive auction.
