Tweener AM sold along AL-FL border

SoldIn the world of television station ratings, Mobile AL and Pensacola FL are in the same Nielsen DMA. In the radio world, they are separate – and a station being sold manages to get in the middle without projecting a major presence in either.

The station is WDXZ-AM, licensed to Robertsdale AL.

The seller is Gulf Coast Broadcasting Company Inc., headed by R. Lee Hagan.

The buyer is Tri City Radio Group LLC, 100% owned by Noah Britt.

The price is $65,000. An LMA will go into effect until closing.

WDXZ-AM is a Class D on 100 kHz with 1 kW-D, ND. It is located to the east of Mobile, throwing a secondary contour only over the part of the city closest to its waterfront. Its fringe signal gets all of Mobile, and also covers most of Pensacola FL to its east.

Tri City also owns WPMO-AM Pascagoula MS in the Biloxi-Gulfport-Pascagoula market.
