The contract for the sale of WBWL-AM Jacksonville FL from Radio Disney Group to Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Corporation is now on file at the FCC, along with paperwork for another deal involving KALY-AM in Albuquerque NM.

As previously reported, WBWL is being sold for $650K cash.

Chesapeake-Portsmouth is headed by Nancy Epperson and lists Stuart W. Epperson Jr. as an officer. The principal have no other commercial stations in the Jacksonville market, but have an interest in noncommercial River Educational Media, licensee of three local FMs including WCRJ-FM, WAYL-FM & WTRJ-FM. Brokers Bill Schutz (seller) and John Pierce (buyer) had a hand in the deal.

An LMA with a rental fee of $18K/month was scheduled to kick off 10/1/10. As part of the LMA contract, the buyers noted they would be making the station home to a number of syndicated talkers, including Glenn Beck, Dr. Laura, Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, Bill Bennett and others, including some taking over during a few hours devoted to local programming inked onto the schedule.

In the other deal, KALY-AM Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is headed to the noncommercial Jennifer Smart Foundation, headed by Ian H. Stewart. The price is $125K cash. The buyers will be kicking off with an entirely clean programming slate – the station has been off air since 1/22/10, and the FCC officially sanctioned that status with an STA granted 3/25/10.
