Numerous UK radio broadcasters have launched a campaign opposing that country’s digital switchover. The move, unlike here in the US with HD Radio, would force analog FM broadcasters to all migrate to DAB. Ed Vaizey, the Communications minister, is expected to set a timetable for the switchover that may include a firm switchover date at the Go Digital Conference 12/16.
Digital radio listening must reach 50% of all listening for the government to proceed with the official switchover process. The latest speculation is 1H of 2018.
