Latin music superstars Ricky Martin and Luis Miguel, along with Mexican diva Gloria Trevi, reggaetón king Daddy Yankee, singer/actress Belinda and Colombian singer/songwriter Shakira have joined the historic recording of “Somos El Mundo,” the Spanish-language version of “We Are The World.” The music video will make its debut Monday, March 1st on Univision, with music sales to benefit Haiti relief.

The young and talented up-and-coming artist Emily Estefan also participates in the song with her first-ever recorded guitar solo. In partnership with the We Are The World Foundation, renowned music producers Emilio Estefan and Quincy Jones, along with Univision Communications, have gathered 70 of the biggest Latin artists in the world for this epic recording. This is the first time ever that the legendary song is translated into any language, with the approval and blessing of Lionel Richie and the Michael Jackson Estate. All proceeds from music sales of “Somos el Mundo” will be used solely to benefit Haitian earthquake victims. The effort was made possible by the support of AT&T and VISA.

The exclusive, world-wide premiere of the song’s music video will air on March 1st at 10 pm ET/PT on “El Show de Cristina” (The Cristina Show) on the Univision Network. An exclusive one-hour, behind-the-scenes special will also air on the Univision Network at a later date to be announced. In addition, Univision Radio will premiere the song nationwide during the morning drive time on March 1st.

Over the past weeks an all-star ensemble of the greatest Latin artists came together to record “Somos El Mundo,” and make their contribution towards raising funds and awareness for the continuing crisis in Haiti.

All proceeds derived from donations, iTunes downloads and retail sales of “Somos El Mundo” will be used directly by the We Are The World Foundation to benefit the Haitian cause in charitable and relief efforts. The song’s official website, www.somoselmundo.org, will launch on Monday, March 1st.
