Veritone Stock Soars Again On IBC Win

U.S. financial markets ended the week on a downbeat, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 10.12, to 22,349.11 in Friday’s trading. The Dow had been down further in the 1pm hour, with improvements seen in the final hour of trading. This also helped the Nasdaq composite index swing to a small gain of 4.23, to 6,426.92, after being slightly down in mid-afternoon trading.


While the overall markets were mixed on Friday, AI technology company Veritone Inc. soared to another new record high, leaping 4.8%, to $56.28, on word that Quantum Corp.’s aiWARE for Xcellis, a cloud-based version of the artificial intelligence platform from Veritone, earned a “Best of Show Award” at IBC2017 in Amsterdam. Award criteria included innovation, feature set, ease of use, versatility and value/ROI.

Other climbers on Wall Street among media companies include Emmis Communications (+3.25%, to $3.18), Sinclair Broadcast Group (+3.2%, to $29.35), and Saga Communications, which rebounded with a 4.5% gain, to $42.80.

Decliners include Spanish Broadcasting System, which tumbled 12%, to 88 cents, on news of a delisting warning from OTC Markets.
