Financial services firm Edward Jones is getting contradictory results in its analysis of this year’s holiday spending – it sees a gain in retail sales but it also sees a high percentage of consumers looking to cut back on spending. And once again, a finger is being pointed at Washington.
Here are the key contradictory stats: 37% of those surveyed plan to spend less this year than last; at the same time, total retail sales are expected to increase 2.8%.
