Wednesday ‘American Idol’ ruled w/ lead ‘Human Target’

With an original HUMAN TARGET and the AMERICAN IDOL Top 9 Results Show, FOX won last night across the board and beat the next-highest rated network by +65% among Adults 18-49, +113% among Adults 18-34, +150% among Teens and +41% in Total Viewers.


At 8p HUMAN TARGET posted a 2.2/7, down one tenth (-4%) from last week, and ranked No. 1 in its time period among Adults 18-49. Total Viewers, Adults 25-54, Women 18-49 and all key male demos.

The Top 9 Results on AMERICAN IDOL posted a 6.5/18 among Adults 18-49 and won the hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos.   AMERICAN IDOL outperformed its nearest competitor in the 9p hour by +86% among Adults 18-49, +145% among Adults 18-34, +180% among Teens and +58% in Total Viewers. Compared to last week’s Results show on Wednesday, 3/31/10, AMERICAN IDOL was down -3% (vs. 6.7/19).

AMERICAN IDOL’s Tue/Wed average this week substantially outperformed ABC’s Dancing With The Stars Mon/Tue average by +65% among Adults 18-49 (7.0/19 vs. 4.2/12) and +11% in Total Viewers (20.4 vs. 18.3 Mil.)  Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL results show also significantly out-rated Dancing With The Stars’ Wed results show by +162% among Adults 18-49 (6.5/18 vs. 2.5/7) and +59% in Total Viewers (19.7 vs. 12.4 Mil.)

So far this season, AMERICAN IDOL’s average is on par with the same weeks last year with Most Current ratings vs. comparable Most Current, showing 93% retention among Adults 18-49 (9.2/24 vs. 9.9/25), 94% among Adults 18-34 (7.7/22 vs. 8.2/23), 97% among Teens (6.5/21 vs. 6.7/21) and 94% in Total Viewers (24.9 vs. 26.4 Mil.)

Competition
ABC ran repeats of Modern Family (1.6/5), The Middle (1.6/5), Modern Family (1.9/5) and Cougar Town (1.4/4), followed by an average Ugly Betty original (1.4/4) at 10p.

CBS’ The New Adventures Of Old Christine (1.6/6) and Accidentally on Purpose (1.9/6) delivered their lowest original episodes ever (Old Christine matched).  Criminal Minds (3.5/9) was in line with its recent performance while CSI: NY (2.5/7) also posted its lowest rating ever for a first-run episode, down -4% from its last original and  -22% from its prior original average (3.2/9).

After a special Minute To Win It (1.8/6) and a repeat Law & Order: SVU (1.4/4), an original episode of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU (2.5/7) was about average.
