While Howie Rose and Josh Lewin will return as the Mets’ radio team as the games shift to WOR-AM from CBS Radio’s WFAN-A/M, the Yankees have moved to WFAN from WCBS-AM 880. Here are details of its first year of a multi-year contract as the flagship station of Yankees baseball. It begins with live coverage of the team’s pre-season match-up versus the Pirates on Thursday, 2/ 27 (1:05PM, ET) from Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Sports fans can tune in to the broadcasts at WFAN-AM 660, or WFAN-FM 101.9.
WFAN’s broadcast team is led by John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman, who are entering their 10th season together behind the microphone, with Sweeny Murti providing commentary during the station’s pre- and post-game shows broadcast before and after all regular-season contests. Joe Girardi will be featured during the pre-game “Manager’s Report,” and Thursdays at 5:05PM with Mike Francesa on “Mike’s On.”
“We’re extremely honored to bring Yankees baseball to the FAN,” said Don Bouloukos, SVP/Market Manager, CBS Radio New York. “We look forward to many successful years with the team, and are very excited about their off-season player acquisitions. After nearly a decade of calling play-by-play, John and Suzyn have established themselves as New York’s most recognizable broadcast team. We’re pleased to welcome them back to the booth.”
