Tribune Company’s WGN-AM Chicago says newly hired host Mike McConnell will be filling the 1-3 pm slot on the station when he begins work August 9th. WGN had hired him away from Clear Channel’s WLW-AM Cincinnati.

“Mike McConnell and John Williams, who currently hosts 9 am-1 pm, make a great team to take our listeners through the events of the day. Entertaining talk, news, current events – they can do it all, and engage listeners like no one else in Chicagoland,” said Tom Langmyer, Vice President/General Manager of WGN Radio.

Steve Cochran, whose contract expires Thursday, has left the station.

“We want to thank Steve for his service at WGN Radio and wish him the best,” said Langmyer.  Beginning Monday, June 28th, a series of guest hosts will fill the 1 to 3 pm shift on days when WGN is not airing Cubs baseball.
