WILC-AM flips to Libertarian Talk in DC

WILC-AM_2014Operating under Wallis Communications (ZGS Comm.), the new WILC-AM 900 is now home to a new libertarian and personality driven radio format, combining brokered and syndicated shows. WILC boasts “Where Liberty Has a Voice” as the new tagline. The goal is to bring a fresh and unique perspective to new listeners by delivering extraordinary content and viewpoints on important topics like politics, world affairs and more. Fox News Radio is the news provider. They expect the station will syndicate the format into new US markets later this year.

WILC was formerly a Spanish Adult Contemporary station (Romantica 900 AM).

The new shows and hosts give talk radio a new twist by challenging the content boundaries and offering a free and open exchange of ideas.

Already considered a popular libertarian talk show in NJ., Connecticut and other east coast markets, The Dr. K Show (with host Dr. Kevin Wallis) is now airing M-F 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET in Washington DC. The Glenn Beck Program (airing M-F 9:00 am – 12:00 pm ET) is the third highest rated radio program in America.  The John Fredericks Show (airing M-F 6:00 am – 9:00 am ET) is the only morning news-talk show focused on the local issues that impact the daily lives of Virginia residents.  The Dennis Miller Show (airing M-F 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm ET) includes serious discussions about American culture, current events, politics, and their place in the global context.  The Artie Lang Show (airing M-F 10:00 pm – 1:00 am EST) is a sports/entertainment talk show hosted by comedian and former Howard Stern Show personality Artie Lange. Alex Jones airs 1AM-4AM. These shows are anticipated to expand into other U.S. markets during the year.

RBR-TVBR observation: WILC’s transmitter is located about halfway between DC and Baltimore, however its coverage pattern favors DC–see the map here. The nighttime coverage is different, but covers the market and area between DC and Baltimore well. It’s also interesting to see an affiliate that now carries Alex Jones here in DC.
